Built on four solid pillars, the Master’s program in “Georesources, Georisk, and Geotechnics” (Master 3G), with a specialization in Engineering Geology (GEOLIN), is a program recognized for its high standards, which facilitate entry into the professional world or further study at the doctoral level. Combining disciplinary courses (geotechnics, contaminated sites and soils, mining and post-mining, geothermal energy), scientific courses (regional geology, hydrogeology, geomatics, geophysics), interdisciplinary courses (environmental law, circular economy, English), and project management (career planning, final-year project, internship reports), this master’s program prepares future graduates for careers at the heart of societal demand. The synergy between numerous guest lectures (from the private sector and/or public institutions), academic courses, project work, and site visits enables future graduates to acquire all the theoretical, technical, writing, and interpersonal skills necessary for their future careers as managers. One of the primary objectives of the program is to ensure the best possible integration of our students into the job market, which is achieved with a job placement rate exceeding 95% within 0 months—that is, immediately upon graduation.

Know-how and skills
Subject-specific skills:
Possess a solid understanding (both theoretical and practical) of georesources, georisk, geotechnical engineering, and/or geothermal energy in order to address issues related to:
- The conservation of natural resources;
- The rehabilitation of industrial and mining sites;
- The management and remediation of contaminated sites and soils;
- Proficiency in the rules for the design and sizing of structures
- Energy Resource Management in the Field of Geothermal Energy
Transferable skills:
- Work independently, as part of a team, and within a network;
- Define and highlight your identity, skills, and career goals;

Training benefits
- Many of the guest speakers are professionals from the business world. They engage with the program through lectures (about 50%) or by offering internships;
- Extensive professional experience right after graduation: 9 to 22 months of professional immersion that allows you to effectively combine theoretical and practical knowledge;
- This program is open to work-study students (under a professional training contract or apprenticeship contract), allowing them to prepare for the 3G Master’s degree while receiving a salary. Lasting 10 to 24 months (Master’s 1 and/or Master’s 2), this work experience provides students with a practical understanding of the professional world and serves as a springboard to entering the workforce;
- A 9- to 12-month internship in the program, offering a true immersion and hands-on experience in the professional world (available only to students in the initial training program who do not wish to pursue a work-study program);
- GEOLIN Forum: The GEOLIN Forum, an annual industry forum, brings together professionals and students in the field of geosciences. Organized by second-year students in the program, this event helps students in the Department of Earth Sciences secure internships, work-study programs, and jobs;
- A program closely aligned with the professional world that promotes students' entry into the workforce;
- An employment rate of over 95% within 0 months, that is, starting on the day of graduation;
- Post-graduation support to help students build their professional networks
Organization
The program offers theoretical and practical instruction at the university, combined with a significant component of professional immersion in a company or laboratory.
The university curriculum is organized around lectures, tutorials, practical sessions, case studies, site visits, and projects.
Professional immersion takes place through internships and/or a work-study program in the field of research and/or applied science. Professional immersion is supervised by a professional mentor and an academic advisor. This professional experience culminates in the writing of theses and oral defenses before a jury.
The master’s program is organized around 7 knowledge and skills blocks (BCC):
BCC 1 – Professional development in the field of geosciences
BCC 2 – Adherence to principles of ethics, professional conduct, and environmental responsibility
BCC 3 – Mastery of tools specific to engineering work in the field of geosciences
BCC 4 – Manage mineral resources
BCC 5 – Manage contaminated sites and soils
BCC 6 – Manage geotechnical engineering projects
BCC 7 – Manage geothermal energy resources

Applicants:
This Master’s program is open to applicants with at least a bachelor’s degree. Applicants will primarily hold a bachelor’s degree in Earth Sciences, but may also come from other fields such as environmental studies, water resources, geophysics, etc.
